Krantiveer (1994)

Krantiveer is an Indian Bollywood film directed by Mehul Kumar, released on July 22, 1994.The film stars Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Atul Agnihotri, Mamta Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa and Paresh Rawal in lead roles.The film was a major critical and commercial success; it became the third highest grossing film of the year, additionally winning three Star Screen Awards, four Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.

Krantiveer is the story of pratap(nana patekar) a man without any motivation no aim or direction in life, when he was young his mother (farida jalal) threw him out of the house because of his gambling problems and he was the cause of his grandfathers death. Pratap now lives with laxmidas dhayal (paresh rawal) and his son atul(atul agnihotri).Pratap is aware of the plight of society around him but like millions of other people he is to lazy to fight for any cause, instead he laughs at people.

Megha dixit(dimple kapadia) s a journalist and is totattly opposite of pratap, she is always ready to fight cause of common man.She tries to teach some sense to pratap, but does not succeed.Atul falls in love with mamta (mamta kulkarni) who is a daughter of a notorius builder yograj (tinnu anand).Yogiraj traps laxmidas in his trap with the help of politicians, police and a underworld don chatursingh chitah(danny) engineers a communal riot in laxminagar.They want to displace thousands of poor from their lands and build huge complexes there.

They burn down the whole basti they live and thousands of people die.On the otherside laxmidas whom pratap considers his father is killed by chatursingh chitah, and the heat of megha’s words turn pratap into a volcano.Pratap stands up to fight for a cause, pratap takes the law into his own hands resulting in chaos and violence.He has become Krantiveer and millions of Indians follow him..
