Hum Saath Saath Hain (HSSH) is a typical Rajshri film. Like in his earlier film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, in this film too director Sooraj Barjatya has focused on life in a joint family.
The story of HSSH revolves around a happy joint family, whose members come together to celebrate the silver wedding anniversary of Ramkishen (Alok Nath) and Mamta (Reema). Ramkishen (Alok Nath) and his wife Mamta (Reema Lagoo) live with their three sons, namely Vivek (Mohnish Behl), Prem (Salman Khan), and vinod (Saif Ali Khan). Prem and Vinod have sweethearts in Preeti and Sapna (Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor), but since Vivek has a birth handicap the family has been unable to find him a suitable match.
The family meets with Adarsh and his daughter Sangeeta (Rajeev Verma and Tabu), and soon Sangeeta and Vivek get married. Mamta’s 3 snobby, girlfriends, with the help of Karsihma’s father, persuade her into thinking that if the three brothers live in the same house with all of their wives & son-to-be kids, then fights & complications will occur. This divides the family, even though Vivek accepts his step-mother’s wishes. This leads to a tangled web of problems & sadness. Saddhna also becomes pregnant in the midst of all the trouble.
Will Prem & Vinod get married to their loves?
Will the three “friends” of Mumta ruin the family?
Will Ramkishen accept this humiliation against his eldest son?
