Bhoot Bungla (1965)

I don’t exactly think I could call this horror, it’s too goofy to be that. I guess you could say it’s the Indian version of the Bowery Boys movies, at least the ones where they meet spooks or things like that Mystery surrounds a house which is reportedly haunted by singing and dancing ghosts and ghouls. This is when a jittery Mohan (Mehmood) decides to investigate. He is also supported by an equally petrified Rekha (Tanuja), and her mysterious uncle Shyamlal (Nasir Hussain).

We have some nifty song and dance numbers, one of which is The Twist, given a new twist, and one is sort of a take on a fight scene from West Side Story. Also a cool song and dance number with small children that tells them not to fear ghosts. The haunted house stuff is fairly silly and goofy and brings to mind movies like “Scared Stiff”.There is also one character that is featured a couple times that seems to be a take on Jerry Lewis, oh please, leave him to the French.Overall though, this is a fun and entertaining movie and worth seeing if you’re adventurous and enjoy foreign films. 8 out of 10.
