The story of Kariya 2 revolves around Kariya, a small-time local goon who is employed by an influential underworld don. All is well with Kariya until he falls in love with Janaki, which leads to several unfortunate events that change their life completely.
Prabhu Srinivas takes an ordinary tale involving Sandalwood’s favourite action sub-genre – rowdyism – and turns it in to an engaging film that combines romance, drama and suspense. It is not a film that tries to set benchmarks for commercial films. Its success lies in the fact that it reinforces the idea that even a commercial potboiler should be made sensibly. Prabhu Srinivas manages to craft a decent entertainer without the paraphernalia that accompanies a similar star film.
